BIG W - New Live Big For Less Campaign

In possibly the largest integrated campaign undertaken by a single ad agency in Australia to date, IdeaWorks today launches the new BIG W brand across all consumer touchpoints. In doing so, there have been some amazing feats undertaken, from a brilliant new Brand ID component - created by Glen Barry (Head of Brand Identity @ IdeaWorks) which has evolved through the entire campaign into touchpoints like;
  • New TV Brand Campaign
  • Press Campaign
  • Catalogue Design & Production
  • Environment & Store Design
  • Instore Communications & POS
  • Website Strategy, Design & Development
  • Online Communications (eDM's .etc)
  • Internal Big W Communications

On the interactive side of the campaign, we have taken BIG W into a whole new world online by creating a really fresh, totally CSS based design for the new BIG W website that will be enjoyed by all users. There was an amazing amount of work involved in this re-design from strategic planning right through to detailed usability design & testing. The project had a great level of difficulity to enhance the brand online, while staying true to the simplicity and freshness of the new branding, something that's great testimate the the designers in my team.

New BIG W Website Design
We've also created a Live Big For Less microsite showcasing the Brand TVC's to BIG W staff and suppliers. This microsite has not been created for the general public, but more for the suppliers and staff to give them access to the campaign before it was seen on TV. It's also a great reference point for anyone wanting to experience the new brand and its message.

So feel free visit http://www.livebigforless.com.au/ and enjoy the new TVC's.

In other areas we have created strategic eDM and online communication touchpoints that will be experienced in the coming weeks to months as the entire campaign rolls out, along with some fantastic instore communication work that will also roll out. Enjoy the campaign.

BigW New Release DVD MicroSite

IdeaWorks launched another BigW microsite this week with New Release DVD's launching with pre-order opportunities for each of the blockbuster titles coming to DVD this summer and into the future. You might wonder why we would offer a pre-order, but - after studying some major launches and being sold out in some stores and not others, this sets a trend that allows BigW to move stock around to ensure every customer who wants an item, gets an item!

With a simple microsite, we are able to track pre-orders for each item and allocate stock to individual stores based on demand, providing customers with a guarantee their item is on hold for them and ready and pick up in store come release day.

BigW are also giving customers great reason to pre-order by adding bonus items with each new release. This is a great way to help drive customer interaction online, build trust with individual consumers looking for online purchases in the future or via their other online shopping websites.

New XGAMES Website

Seems that the XGAMES have launched a new site for the upcoming August 2-5 competition. This site seems less about the compeitions and more about the stars that will attend. What i'm interested in, is the graphics & animation.

They are slick. Infact, this site is so well done i'd be supprised if it didnt win a few awards. Unfortunatly, the navigation is possibly the worst i've ever seen, but if you have some time to burn you probably won't even notice you wasted 20mins trying to find all the secret parts with in the website.

This concept reminds me of the Eminem website, it's got the same DNA and finger prints all over it. That site was created by We Fail and i'd presume these guys created the new XGAMES site too.

On Toyota's Mind Website

I just checked out a new microsite from Toyota, called On Toyota's Mind. My first feelings (apart from the amazing graphics) were WOW, that's exacly the same style as "The Creative Mind" microsite from Adobe.
Link to On Toyota's Mind Website
Sure, Toyota have spent a bucket load more cash on this site than Adobe, and dam it looks great with that semi-realistic render, but essentially it's exactly the same as Adobe's Creative Mind site, only with different content! Right? I guess this runs back into the age old concept that nothing is new anymore, and creative agencies just "base" new campaigns on artwork that is already out there.

While that statement may not be true, as I'm sure not everything humanly possible to create has been created, more and more we see new advertising campaigns and more recently new websites that have a striking resemblance to others, even as high profile as Adobe and Toyota.

Link to Adobe's Creative Mind WebsiteAs you can see, even more so once you get into these sites and explore each of the minds, you'll notice the trend of clickable objects, funky characters and intuitive navigation. This goes right across the board for both websites. So my question is where does a creative agency cross the line and steal an idea, rather then expand on a style?

None the less, this new microsite from Toyota in which users get to explore the offerings from Toyota in a visual world is top notch. From Swedish agency SWE and growing interactive agency North Kingdom is a fantastic compilation of flash animation, 3D renderings and design. Not to mention featuring some very cool features from Toyota's Cars. Check it out here.

Playb3yond

With only days until the new Play Station 3 is released and gamers all over the world in a mindless craze to get their hands on Sony's highly anticipated (and extremely highly Link to Playb3ond.compriced) PlayStation 3 console, can get a taste of what's to come and plunge into the hype by checking out the new teaser website called Playb3yond.com.

From here you can explore the power of the new PS3 console, or interact with the site with a series of well-placed mouse clicks revealing a hidden code on the wall, written in a strange alphabet of symbols taken from the PS3's controller. So if you're a hardcore programmer or aspiring hacker and can crack the code, you will unlock all sorts of bonus features, including game trailers and developer interviews.

I'm very impressed with this website created by Tequila/L.A - nice work guys! There is certainly some fantastic flash work involved with the secret code, not to mention the way this was all seamlessly put together into a site that isn't too overweighted.

Lynx Jet Planet

So the Lynxjet is flying that mile high club once more, this is the newest release of the award-winning Lowe Hunt campaign for the Lynx deodorant brand. For this campaign update, the destination for the "male fantasy-on-wings" is none other than Lynxjet Planet, an online mating game in which the sexy Lynxjet "Mostesses" become your personal tour guides and lead players through virtual cities like Tokyo, New York and Stockholm - your quest is to charm as many local ladies as you can! Anyway you can.

It's an impressive site, although id recommend turning down your volume before placing your courser over any of the ladies! Unfortunately, to play the Leisure Suit Larry style game you need to fill out a registration form with about 10 fields! But it may just be worth it ;)
